Sheet Line Add ( Drawing Editor )

Tool summary :

  • Adds a sheet line or series of sheet lines to a sheet outline. When you are done drawing lines, right-click ( Return ).
  • If you plot to preprinted sheets that already have items such as title blocks or logos printed on them, this tool lets you place sheet lines on a sheet outline to block out the locations of those pre-printed items.
  • Sheet lines do not plot, and they cannot be snapped to by INCL or VTPT or etc.

   Step-by-step instructions :

1 . This step is optional.

1a (optional) : Use Construction Line Add to place construction lines so that there are points of intersection ( INCL points) wherever you want to place the end points of the sheet lines. You will probably want to delete these construction lines when you are done.

2 . Invoke Sheet Line Add using any one (1) of the following methods:

Method 1 : Click the Sheet Line Add icon. The icon can be taken from the group named ' Objects -- Sheet Lines ' and placed on a toolbar (classic) or the ribbon (lightning).

Method 2 : If " Drawing Editor layout style " is ' Classic ', you can use the menu system to choose Objects > Sheet Lines > Add .

Method 3, 4 or 5 : Sheet Line Add can also be invoked using a keyboard shortcut , the context menu , or a mode . For the ' Lightning ' layout style, configuration of the interface is done using Customize Interface .

3 . Draw - Move - Return mouse bindings become active along with various Locate options. The line starts at the final point of the last sheet line added to your current drawing.

3a : Select the Locate icon that you want (if it's not pressed already).

3b : Place your mouse pointer ( ) and either left-click ( Draw ) or middle-click ( Move ). Left-click ( Draw ) draws the line. Middle-click ( Move ) changes the starting point of the line to where the point location target ( ) is at.

3c (optional) : Move your mouse pointer ( ) and left-click ( Draw ) and middle-click ( Move ) as many times as you like to draw as many lines as you want.

3d : When you are done drawing lines, right-click ( Return ). Go to step 4.

4 . The mouse bindings that were active when you invoked Sheet Line Add become active again.

Note: Any sheet lines added using this procedure can be instantly removed (one at a time, in reverse-order of their addition) by using Undo .
